James Vega

James Vega’s work lies between indigenous and wild gestures and intimate introspection. Through the bond with the land and its children, he searches for the authentic breath of existence.

About James Vega

The Latin American origins guide James Vega through a research in which nature, life, and death are intertwined and intermingled.
Without an academic education, James conceives the artistic practice as an instinctive liberation, in which the irrational dimension gives life to tribal figures, pervaded by a melancholic carnality and a violent instability. Rooted for years in the Florentine territory, the artist blends the influences of his homeland and those of the country where he has settled, transferring them to the wall, the favorite medium to give voice to the primal impulse that drives him to paint.
His works can be found not only in the streets of Florence, but also in other cities such as Rome, Barcelona, Siena, Bologna, Naples, Palermo, Pisa, Orvieto, Reggio Emilia and others.
