URBANSCAPES #2 - Criticity

What is happening in our cities? What is the future of urban space?The crisis of the ‘public’ character of the urban fabric opens many questions on the contemporary condition of urban agglomerations, on the role of the citizen and on the meaning of living.
The urgency to renew the social organization of the territory according to a critical and transformative approach has been accepted by an emerging Florentine collective.
With the project 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗶, the founders of 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 have started a process of reflection on alternative practices of urban design, artistic provocation and multidisciplinary research.

𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘢̀ 𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘦, 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘢̀ 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘭𝘦 and 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘢̀ 𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘢 are the three volumes of the new editorial series of Futuri Urbani, an important contribution to rethink the public space according to a critical-imaginative perspective and to return the city to its inhabitants.

URBANSCAPES

URBANSCAPES is the new divulgative format that Street Levels Gallery and the association A Testa Alta dedicate to the story of the Florentine cultural ecosystem. A window that opens on all the local organizations – collectives, movements, associations, artists – that, in recent years, have been involved in the reappropriation, redefinition and regeneration of public space, using the medium of urban art and its various declinations, promoting alternative practices of intervention, contributing to the construction of a collective identity.
The city as a common good is the premise that unites the guests presented during the various talks, the point from which to explore the changes that affect the present and the future of our cities.

Criticity

Criticity is a team active in Florence since 2020. Its founders are scholars and professionals who, starting from a critique of the nowadays reality, aim to enhance and foster virtuous practices of urban intervention. Through the use of unconventional organizational forms used instead of prevailing logics, they affirm and advocate for alternative potentials of social coexistence.
