Ecstasy: a state of isolation and mental elevation of the individual absorbed in a unique idea or a particular emotion.
This is exactly the state of trance that Vlad Mititelu, street artist, designer and sculptor, wants to tell in his first solo exhibition in Italy, which was presented at Street Levels Gallery from June 18 to July 16, 2017.
“In today’s society, people want to get in touch with stronger and stronger impulses in order to get distracted from their day-to-day life. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to experience them naturally.”
The artist, with his production, makes a personal analysis of the individual in today’s society, which is incapable, according to him, of experiencing real and natural sensations.
Ecstasy is the common thread that unites the Renaissance, Baroque and classical sculptural subjects, chosen by Mititelu as the protagonists of his works. They express the ecstatic experience through different states such as: power, sexuality, domination, passion and desire.
With this project, the artist gives a contemporary interpretation to some cornerstones of art history, using the bright colors typical of his “graffiti palette”, catapulting the viewer into the fantasy of urban art.
