Il castello dei sogni

The mural “The Castle of Dreams” was born from the collaboration between the Gianni Rodari Primary and Nursery School of Florence Rifredi – district 5 – and the street artist Dolce Katone, curated by Street Levels Gallery.

An important part of this artistic project was transforming the drawings created by the children into a complex and colorful work that conveyed their childish and fresh perspective. Dolce Katone adopted a soft and wavy graphic style, with bright and fairy-tale-like colors, to interpret the theme of sleep and desire; a girl is asleep, her body covered by a grassy mantle, and she rests peacefully.

The large mural, over 12 meters wide, is a gigantic invitation to affirm oneself and believe in one’s dreams; its realization was enriched by the participation of the children, the direct beneficiaries of this powerful message of confidence. The artist and the children collaborated in the creation of a dreamy and enchanting depiction, which conveys joy and hope through its colors and theme.

Dolce Katone is an artist who naturally seeks dialogue with others – in this case, the youngest – involving them not only in the initial creative process but also in the completion of the final work, listening to their dreamy suggestions and complementing them with inspiring literary quotes.

 

This mural aims to become a reminder of a future to seek, dream, and build; the painted elements, carefully chosen, in the case of the books, alludes to a pursuit of always desirable elevation, while the imposing castle rises among the clouds, becoming a symbol of an unassailable ambition.
