Malta Talks #1 - Confronting walls
January 20, 2022 – January 23, 2022
Thursday, January the 20th, at 18.30, Street Levels Gallery and the association A Testa Alta E.T.S. presents the first MALTA TALKS – MURI DI CONFRONTO, a series of appointments aimed at investigating the currents of graffiti and muralism. Through the dialogue between artists, street art experts and the public, it is possible to get closer to some of the main figures of this culture, using a simple and communicative visual medium: the fanzine. Among the invited guests there will be Cruko, the owner of Ninotchka – one of Florence’s most well known underground shops – and Ero – writer, painter, and street artist, who has been active in the urban scene since 1998.
The first fanzine presented is named REGRESSIONE, published by Concretipo and illustrated by the urban artist Taleggio. Taleggio is also the protagonist of a temporary exhibition hosted by the gallery from Thursday, the 20th to Sunday, the 23rd of January, as well as of a live painting on the occasion of the opening.
In the 2000s, Taleggio entered the world of urban art as a writer. The need to experiment and the desire to go “beyond the letter” introduced him to a new language, this time an abstract one. His work in the street transforms in parallel with that in the studio, a synergy that allows him to follow the intensification of his collaborations. His latest publication is in fact Regressione, the fanzine produced together with Concretipo, a creative laboratory of graphic design and printing, born in Florence in 2017.
Street Levels Gallery hosts these different entities with the intent to create new extensions of cultural debate around the great world of urban art.
