Miles

Mìles’ works are twisted fables of characters suspended in a space-time dimension totally devoid of morality, governed by the instincts that society hides in broad daylight.

BIOGRAPHY

About Miles

Mìles is an Italian artist born and raised in Calabria, in the province of Vibo Valentia. After attending the sculpture academy in Carrara, he decided to go to Japan to learn the secrets of Japanese art.

Upon his return to Italy, the artist begins experimenting with different materials, including wood, metal, and resin.

Mìles developshis art both in two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms, representing stylized figures with a grotesque cut and oriental features, inspired by his training in Japan, which are accompanied by symbolic animals.

The shadow falls like a boulder on the bodies, now sinuous now contorted, to express the unconscious, the irrational, the will to act beyond the individual and collective morality schemes.

The line and color in his works are inspired by the tradition of Japanese illustration, but at the same time go beyond this tradition thanks to the artist’s plastic approach, which gives three-dimensionality to the subjects represented.
