Miles

Mìles’ works are twisted fables of characters suspended in a space-time dimension totally devoid of morality, governed by the instincts that society hides in broad daylight.

BIOGRAPHY

About Miles

Mìles is an Italian artist born and raised in Calabria, in the province of Vibo Valentia. After attending the Academy in Carrara, he decided to go to Japan to learn the secrets of Japanese art.

Upon his return to Italy, the artist begins experimenting with different materials, including wood, metal, and resin.

Mìles develops his art both in two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms, representing stylized figures with a grotesque cut and oriental features, inspired by his training in Japan, which are accompanied by symbolic animals.

The shadow descends heavily upon the bodies, at times sinuous, at times contorted, expressing the unconscious, the irrational, and the desire to transcend both individual and collective moral constraints.

The line and color in his works are inspired by the tradition of Japanese illustration, but at the same time, they transcend this tradition thanks to the artist’s plastic approach, which gives three-dimensionality to the subjects represented.
