About Simone Giara

Simone Giara (1984, Vercelli, Piedmont) artist and photographer, lives and works between Florence and Milan.
He graduated in 2010 from the European Institute of Design – IED in Milan. The training as a graphic designer and photographer is combined with experiences immersed in the culture of skate and writing, outside the academic field.
Through his paintings pushes us into a scenario where there are no rules, for an instant or infinity, in the game of repetition and reproducibility. It gives us the atmosphere and emotion of that world lived at night, made up of repetitive actions, fog and adrenaline suspending time in photographic frames.
“I believed in those seized sketches, the engravings on the desks and all the nights spent outside painting. They called us vandals but we just needed to shout”.
The authentic and spontaneous gesture of spray is mixed with oil on canvas, filler, rolled, dirty as on a wall or a livery, which often breaks and “crosses” the fragility of the graphic and formal parts.
The “New Adolescence” series is born from the need to overcome the sense of inadequacy of growth expressed by formality, origins, rules (but also the choice in adulthood to adhere and get lost in those patterns) to rebuild a new way of being and being in the chaos of existence.
